A finely modelled large Byzantine bronze enkolpion reliquary cross, featuring a suspension loop for wear. One side is decorated in profile with the image of a standing Mary, angel with cross above, Saint Peter and Saint John on either side. The other side is showing Christ standing with spread arms, Apostles around. The cross is made in two layers which usually contains a hollow space to hold a relic (wood, cloth, etc.). Height: ± 76,2 mm (including suspension loop) Width: ± 46,7 mm Condition: good and solid condition, pressure crack on the reverse side (stable). Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
