The beolit 609 is number two in the long line of Beolit ​​transistor radios. The cabinet is molded in plastic in contrast to the first Beolit ​​- from the year before - which was made of veneer. The Beolit ​​609 was characterized by a robust design, a high sound quality and a unique battery economy. The concept was very resilient. It lasted for the next many years, and when it was decided to stop production, the factory was pressured by the customers market to resume the product. Designed by architect Ib Fabiansen.
