Clifford Hall (1904-1973) - Leo Kersley in practice costume
This painting captures the young talented Leo Kersley during rehearsals. The well renowned ballet dancer and co-founded of the Sadler's Well Theatre Ballet in London performed all around the world. After teaching in the US and Europe Kersley decided to open a school in his home country with his wife and together they co-authored "A Dictionary of Ballet Terms". The dancer died in 2012.
The artwork is in good conditions, there is a minor imperfection on Kersley's black tights as shown in one of the pictures however it is hardly noticeable and easy to fix with a minor restauration. The wooden frame is clearly hand carved, its original colour is gold but it was painted over with white.
