Kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (armário de gavetas para quimono) - Madeira, Madeira Paulownia/Kiri - Japão - Período Mid-Shôwa (meados do século 20)

Uncommonly-shaped, narrow wooden kimono’ishô’dansu 着物衣装箪笥 (cabinet of drawers for kimono) in two sections. Fully restored, cleaned and waxed. It is made of indigenous kiri (paulownia) wood varnished in a sought after warm brown hue, a colour that we like to call ‘golden oak’. The top section is designed with a pair of hinged doors, above five drawers of different size. The lower section with three full-width drawers, attached to a plinth. The doors can be ingenuously opened by twisting the pull-handle clockwise. They open to four pull-out trays. The smooth-running drawers are fitted with slender ‘warabite’-shaped bail handles, and the full-width drawers with reticulated ‘diamond flower’-shaped lock plates. The sides with retractable “pole carrying”-handles for easy transport and locking the upper part into place. With its diverse array of compartments, this cabinet offers ample and convenient storage space, making it an ideal for storing all sorts of items. Period: Japan – Mid-Shôwa period (Mid-20th century). Dimensions: Height 166.4 cm (T 98.3 cm, B 68.1 cm), Width 63.7 cm, Depth 42.8 cm. The kimono cabinet is in a very good completely resorted condition. No Key included. Please look at the photos for a condition reference. When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity.
