Henry Julien Marie Detouche was first the student of his father, the history painter Laurent Detouche (1815-1882), then that of Ulysse Butin (1837-1883), marine painter and engraver, who taught him the The art of modeling and drawing in volume as practiced by sculptors. He became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1889. A painter until his thirties, he then turned to engraving. He travels a lot.
In 1896, he was invited as a foreigner by the Royal Belgian Society of Watercolorists and exhibited three Intimities of the Sea in Brussels. He traveled through Spain the following year and sacrificed to the fashion of Spanishism, quite widespread among artists, writers and musicians of that time.

Condition: In overall good condition, with some soft handling creases and some small notable folds on the bottom (please check the pictures).
