Technics SL-PS 50 with MASH D/A Converter
With manual, service manual &
Remote control.
Dimensions: 43 x 13 x 33 cm
weight: 6 kg
Manufacturing year: 1990 - 1993
The device is in reasonable condition, technically 100%, the housing has some aging spots.
The Linear drive (by Technics/Panasonic itself) is of the solid kind, the lens is fine.
Photos of the interior show a clean layout and a squeaky clean device.
The SL-PS50 comes with a number of special features that will delight the (tape) recording enthusiast
like a peak search and a complete synchro edit.
The transport security in the bottom is also surprising (photo 30 & 31).
Technics has clearly paid attention to the headphone output, which is adjustable and sounds particularly good.
The MASH D/A converter is known to be good, but there is also a digital (optical, TOS link) output.
Tested in AUDIO as well as STEREO in April and August 1990.
Te STEREO test brigade categorises the Technics in the “Spitzenklasse”, gives a “good” as price/quality ratio
and found one flaw: the power cord is too short.
That does not bother the AUDIO team, they give 85 “Klangpunkte” which also categorises the Technics in the “Spitzenklasse” for them.
The German magazines mention a typical retail price of 800,- DM.
This was around 1000,- FL in the Netherlands.
All my vintage audio equipment has been professionally checked and tested before taking photographs.
The devices are always cleaned, repaired and re-adjusted where needed.
The Technics is packaged very carefully, boxed twice.
