Unique item, this working Philips radio cabinet with record player. The Philips radio gramophone cabinet type FX551A from the "Diamant" series consists of a standing wooden cabinet containing an AM/FM tuner with 4 wavebands, mono amplifier and a 3-speed record player. The latter is closed with a wooden top cover. The device is from 1955. The double knob on the left is for tone and volume, on the right for tuning AM/FM and ferroceptor. The push buttons are for Off, PU, LG, MG, KG and FM. The pickup elements are interchangeable, one is for 33/45/78 rpm and has two sapphire needles, the other with a diamond needle is only for 33/45 rpm use. The built-in amplifier is of the transformerless type. For AM reception, the device has a built-in (double) rotatable ferroceptor. There are different versions of this device, the device shown is the /90 variant. The /00 version has an EM34 tuning eye and one power tube less. Instead, an output transformer is mounted.
