History / Description

A beautifully preserved Japanese 1976 vinyl edition of The John Coltrane Quartet – “Crescent”, issued on Impulse! under catalogue number YS-8506-AI.

Featuring the classic quartet of John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones, Crescent captures one of the most celebrated ensembles in modern jazz at a deeply expressive stage of its development.

This Japanese edition is presented with its distinctive original-style OBI and Japanese insert, together with the gatefold sleeve.

The OBI identifies this release as part of a special limited series of 20,000 copies, adding further interest to this 1976 Japanese issue.

Collector Appeal

A particularly attractive example for collectors of John Coltrane, Impulse! Records and Japanese jazz vinyl.

The vinyl retains a beautiful, strong glossy appearance. The colourful Impulse! centre labels are exceptionally clean, with no obvious spindle marks observed around the spindle holes during visual inspection.

The combination of the Japanese OBI, insert, gatefold presentation and remarkably clean-looking disc gives this copy strong collector and display appeal.
