Vintage Medical Eye Test Chart — Ophthalmology Vision Chart, Poland, Mid-20th Century
A rare and visually striking vintage ophthalmological vision test chart, used in medical practices and eye clinics for visual acuity testing. This authentic piece of medical history originates from Poland and dates from the mid-20th century, most likely the 1950s–1960s.
The chart consists of three hinged panels, suspended from a metal hook and cord, displaying rows of numbers in decreasing sizes — a numerical variant of the classic Snellen eye chart. The panels feature distance and visual acuity measurements marked on both sides in the traditional format used in Polish and Eastern European medical practice. The chart bears an original printed stamp at the bottom, confirming its institutional origin.
The cream/ivory background with bold black typography gives this piece a strong graphic quality, making it not only a fascinating medical antique but also a striking decorative object — perfect for a doctor's surgery, a design studio, a café or a collector of vintage medical instruments and scientific ephemera.
