An elegant Japanese Suzuribako (writing box) finished in deep black lacquer with a refined, mirror-like gloss.
The lid is beautifully decorated with mother-of-pearl (raden) inlay, forming the kanji “浄心 (Jōshin)”, a phrase meaning “Pure Heart” or “Purified Mind.”

“Jōshin” is a concept closely associated with Japanese calligraphy, Zen thought, and traditional aesthetics, symbolizing inner clarity and calm. This piece harmoniously combines spiritual meaning with functional beauty, reflecting the refined sensibility of Japanese lacquer craftsmanship.

The box is crafted using traditional urushi lacquer techniques, resulting in a deep, lustrous surface that retains its elegance over time. Inside, it contains an original inkstone (suzuri) and a ceramic water dropper (mizuire), forming a complete writing set.
