This is a Greek Byzantine icon cames from mount Athos (monastery named Koutloumousi). The icon is called "Mother of God the Great Protection". Its a copy of an ancient Byzantine icon selected from the most representative samples of classic Byzantine icon-painting. It has been produced with the greatest possiblefidelity to the original, on canvas, wood and a gold background.
