Early UK Fontana pressing of Beginnings, the debut album by Ambrose Slade, documenting the band’s pre-glam rock period before they became Slade.

Vinyl condition:

The record is in excellent plus condition with no scratches and no visible hairlines, even under close inspection. Very clean and well-preserved playing surface.

Sleeve condition:
VG
Original sleeve with light edge and corner wear. There is a small area of surface wear/abrasion on the front cover affecting part of the title lettering (see photos). No splits, no writing.

Original Fontana labels.

Matrix / Runout:
No visible matrix or runout markings on this copy. This is known to occur on certain early UK Fontana pressings.

A very clean vinyl copy of a scarce early Slade release, rarely found in this playing condition.

For this copy of ‘Beginnings’ by Ambrose Slade (Fontana, catalogue number STL.5492), there is no visible matrix number in the deadwax/run‑out area. I have carefully inspected the record several times under different light angles (daylight and direct LED light) and also used a magnifying glass. There are no etched numbers, letters or other markings visible on either side 1 or side 2.

Therefore, I am unable to provide a matrix/run‑out number for this particular copy. It is likely that this pressing was etched very faintly or incorrectly, so that any original marking is no longer readable. All other identifying features (label print, catalogue number, layout and rim text) match the known Fontana issue.
