This lot is a bronze paperweight modeled as a carp, created by the renowned Japanese sculptor Kitamura Seibō (1884–1987).
Kitamura Seibō is widely known as the creator of the Nagasaki Peace Statue and was awarded the prestigious Order of Culture. He is regarded as one of the leading figures of modern Japanese sculpture.

This piece depicts a carp in a dynamic, twisting pose, rendered in a strong three-dimensional form.
The sense of movement in the body, the detailed modeling of scales and musculature, and the flowing tail all reflect the refined sculptural skill of the artist.
The surface displays a characteristic bronze patina, combining subdued green oxidation tones with warm golden highlights. The natural aging of the material enhances the depth and character of the piece.
