卖家的描述

亀井勝 Kamei Masaru(1933-2025)
This stoneware flower vase (Kainyū Hanaire) was created by Kamei Masaru, one of the most distinguished ceramic artists from Seto, Aichi Prefecture — Japan's legendary pottery capital. Covered in a refined and nuanced ash glaze (hai-yū), the surface presents a sophisticated palette of warm earth tones, punctuated by subtle variations in color depth and texture that emerge only through wood or ash firing. The form is sculptural and commanding, with an asymmetric, expressive silhouette that reflects Kamei's signature approach of fusing functional craft with bold artistic vision. A generous opening makes this piece equally practical as a vessel and striking as a standalone sculptural object. The work comes accompanied by its original wooden storage box (tomobako) and storage cloth (tomofu), providing important provenance for collectors. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a museum-quality work by a Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) prize-winning master whose output is celebrated throughout Japan and internationally.

Height: 25.2 cm
Width: 18.5 cm
Depth: 12 cm

Condition

Artist Profile
亀井勝 Kamei Masaru(1933–2025) was a celebrated Japanese ceramic artist based in Seto, Aichi Prefecture — the historic heartland of Japanese stoneware. After graduating from the Aichi Prefectural Seto Ceramic High School, he trained under his father, Kiyoichi, and made his Nitten debut in 1953 as its youngest-ever accepted artist. His early independent spirit led him to pause from public exhibitions for nearly a decade, during which he deeply explored new aesthetic directions. From 1962 he resumed submissions to the Nitten, going on to win the Special Prize (Tokusen) twice (1974, 1976), the Prime Minister's Award at the Japan Contemporary Craft Art Exhibition (1994), the Minister of Education Award (2000), and the prestigious Chūnichi Grand Prize at the International Ceramics Exhibition. He served as a Nitten Juror and Councillor, as well as Chairman of the Seto Ceramic Art Association. His works — often inspired by natural landscapes, African and Tunisian walls, and his celebrated "Wind Series" — are held in public and private collections throughout Japan and have been exhibited in Germany and internationally. Kamei's art stands at the intersection of deep craft tradition and modern sculptural expression, making his pieces highly sought after by serious collectors worldwide.
