General Information
Artist: Wings
Title: Back to the Egg
Year: 1979
Catalog Number: FC 36057
Label: Columbia
Country: US
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album
Description
This is a factory-sealed copy of the 1979 studio album by Wings. The record is housed in its original single-pocket jacket, still protected by the factory shrinkwrap. It features the original yellow hype sticker on the front cover, which lists the tracks Getting Closer, Old Siam, Sir, Spin It On, and Arrow Through Me. A vintage Tower Records price sticker is preserved on top of the hype sticker. The spine is sharp, and the shrinkwrap is tight with visible breathing holes, confirming its original state. There are no cut-out marks or promo notches.
Condition
Vinyl: Factory sealed, never opened or played.
Cover: The jacket is perfectly preserved under the original wrap. Corners are sharp, and the colors are vibrant with no fading. Small tear on corner.
Notes for collectors
Back to the Egg is the seventh and final studio album by the band Wings, led by Paul McCartney. Released in 1979, it marked a stylistic shift toward a more aggressive, rock-oriented sound following the polished pop of their previous work. This particular copy is a guaranteed US first edition, identified by the FC prefix in the catalog number (later reissues often used PC). Finding a first pressing in factory-sealed condition is becoming increasingly difficult, making this a top-tier investment piece. A standout feature of this album is the Rockestra Theme, a massive instrumental track featuring a supergroup of rock royalty, including Pete Townshend, David Gilmour, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. The presence of the Tower Records sticker adds a nice touch of retail history to this archival-quality item.
Matrix/Labels
Since the record is factory sealed, the matrix numbers and labels cannot be inspected. For this first US Columbia pressing, the labels should feature the classic Columbia design of the era, and the matrix runouts typically include the Sterling Sound stamp.
