Small Solid Silver Qajar Vase – Late 19th Century (1880–1910)
Charming small solid silver vase of Indian origin, most likely produced in circa 1880–1910.
The entire surface is hand-worked in repoussé and chasing, featuring dense stylised floral motifs inspired by late Indo-Mughal decorative vocabulary. Lobed cartouches alternate with vegetal arabesques set against finely textured (granulated) backgrounds, creating an elegant contrast with the polished reserves.
Traditional handcrafted manufacture: the body was hammered into shape, the decoration repoussé from the inside and then finely chased by hand. Hand-finishing is also visible inside the vase.
Specifications:
Height: 8 cm
Diameter (rim): 5 cm
Weight: 122 grams
Solid silver (likely Oriental standard approx. 800 silver grade)
No European hallmark, consistent with late 19th-century Indian export production
Condition:
Very good overall condition. Crisp decoration and well-preserved details. Light age-related patina. No visible restorations.
A fine example of late 19th-century Indian export silver, produced for the European market during the height of Oriental decorative arts popularity.
Careful and insured shipping.
