deble - Senufo

Deble-A Rhythm Beater

Represents Ka-Tyeleo, the great goddess who presides at initiation ceremonies. The deble is used to purify the earth and to appeal to the souls of deceased ancestors to participate in the religious ceremony being celebrated, usually a funeral.
