This is a kiseru (Japanese tobacco pipe), a traditional Japanese smoking tool.

Features:
Design: The gankubi (the tip of the pipe with the bowl) is intricately carved with a bird (small bird) perched on a branch.
Material: The gankubi and mouthpiece (the part that the mouth rests against) are made of brass, which is thought to develop a unique character with use. The central tube is made of traditional bamboo (rau).
Condition: It has developed a patina with age, giving it a strong antique feel.
Use: While once a tool used daily for smoking shredded tobacco, today it is popular as a piece of Japanese interior decor, a prop in period dramas, and a collectible item.
