卖家的描述
渡边公观 Watanabe Kokan (1877-1938)
Japanese painter, active mainly at Bunten (now Nitten). He formed the Japan Free Painting Club with the mid-career painters Iguchi Kashu, Ikeda Keisen, Ueda Banshu and Hayashi Bunto with the aim of producing free-style Japanese paintings. It is said that he became a personal admirer of Yosa Buson during his activities in the Jiyu-ga-dan.
with signature 'Kokan' 公観 and seal 'Shino' 子能
Set upon a surface finished with silver foil stamping, this two‑panel byōbu features a solitary white heron perched on a willow branch, its poised form standing out beautifully against the softly shimmering metallic ground. The silver foil creates a refined, luminous atmosphere that shifts gently with the light, giving the scene a quiet sense of movement and depth throughout the day. The willow’s delicate lines frame the heron with understated elegance, allowing the purity of the bird’s white plumage to resonate even more strongly against the radiant backdrop. The signature “Kokan” (公観) and seal “Shino” (子能) affirm the artist’s hand. When displayed, the gentle glow of the silver foil and the serene posture of the heron bring a calm, uplifting brightness to the room, offering a moment of clarity each time the viewer returns to the scene. The work blends traditional sensitivity with a modern, luminous presence, making it a compelling focal point for both contemporary and classical interiors.
