Giancarlo Piretti – DSC 106 Stacking Chair – Castelli, Italy, 1960s
Iconic stacking chair designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, Italy. The DSC 106 was designed in 1965 and quickly became a landmark of Italian industrial design, entering the permanent collection of MoMA New York.
Design & Construction
The chair features the distinctive die-cast aluminium side connectors — the hallmark of the DSC series — which allow seamless linking and stacking of multiple units. The seat and backrest are upholstered in the original grey/taupe fabric, mounted on a tubular steel frame with original rubber feet.
Condition
Good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The upholstery shows light wear, the aluminium castings are intact with no cracks or repairs, and the frame is sturdy with no deformation. Overall a presentable and fully functional example.
