Elegant Japanese Kamakura-bori Lacquerware 3-Drawer Chest - Peony Design
[Description] This is a stunning example of Kamakura-bori, a traditional Japanese craft with over 800 years of history. This three-drawer chest (Kodansha) is meticulously hand-carved from natural wood and finished with multiple layers of rich red and black lacquer.
The front features a magnificent Peony (Botan), known as the "King of Flowers" in Japan, symbolizing wealth, nobility, and good fortune. The background is adorned with the characteristic "Ishime-bori" (stone-texture carving), which gives the piece a sophisticated, matte-like depth.
[Condition] Excellent vintage condition. This item appears to be unused or kept with extreme care. The lacquer remains vibrant and glossy, and the interior of the drawers is exceptionally clean, which is rare for vintage wooden items.
