卖家的描述
Vintage Brass Dick Turpin Door Knocker – Highwayman on Horseback with London / York Signpost – British Historical Souvenir
⸻
Object
Decorative miniature door knocker depicting the famous English highwayman Dick Turpin riding on horseback.
This finely cast brass piece shows Turpin wearing a tricorne hat and period riding cloak while mounted on his horse. Behind him stands a small signpost indicating London and York, referencing the famous folklore story of Turpin’s legendary ride between the two cities on his horse Black Bess. The base is clearly inscribed “DICK TURPIN.”
The knocker is cast in solid brass with a naturally aged patina that highlights the relief details of the horse, rider and landscape beneath. The piece is fitted with mounting loops for fixing to a door or wall and functions as a small working door knocker or decorative wall piece.
Objects of this type were widely produced in Britain during the mid-20th century and sold as historical souvenirs celebrating well-known characters from English folklore and history.
A charming decorative object for collectors of British history, traditional brassware, architectural hardware or unusual vintage curiosities.
