¶ First British edition of the memoirs of the famous versatile, Russian-born French twenties & thirties Art-Deco fashion-, costume- and stage-designer Erté, pseudonym of Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990). In 1912 he moved to Paris to make his name in a.o. the House of Poiret to set up new trends in fashion and theatre design. In the years that followed he became one of the most sought-after designers in theatre, opera, musical comedy, revue and film, as well as in textiles, accessories and as illustrator for Harper's Bazar. He designed costumes in Art-Deco style for Ziegfeld Follies, the Folies Bergère as well as for Hollywood movies such as Ben-Hur, The Mystic, Time, The Comedian, en Dance Madness.. This autobiography spans over 60 years, in which the artist collaborated with many artists, actors, singers, producers and other men and women of fame of his time
