Takahashi Rakusai (IV): Born in 1925. As the eldest son of the third-generation Rakusai, he inherited the traditional techniques of Shigaraki ware. He has held solo exhibitions overseas and is one of the master artisans of modern Shigaraki, spreading the appeal of Shigaraki ware worldwide.

This "Four-Sided Eared Flower Vase" was crafted by Takahashi Rakusai, a master artisan who continues the tradition of Shigaraki ware into the present day.

This elegant piece combines the powerful form evoking the wabi-sabi aesthetic of ancient Shigaraki with the natural art of flame.

1. Features

Shape: The vase features a distinctive, solid, square shape. The sides feature ears (decorative ears), a traditional Shigaraki technique, emanating a powerful presence amidst the silence.

Appearance (Firing): The beautiful "fire color" created by the flames and ash in the kiln and the "scorched" texture of the natural glaze create a variety of different expressions that can be enjoyed depending on the angle from which it is viewed. The rough earthenware characteristic of Shigaraki pottery is utilized to create a simple yet dignified finish.

Uses: Not only can it be used as a flower vase for tea ceremonies, but it will also elevate any Japanese-style or Western-style room as a contemporary piece of interior decor.

2. About the Artist and Seal
Artist: Takahashi Rakusai
Derived from a prestigious family representing Shigaraki, the name has been passed down for three or four generations. He is known as an artist who strives to combine the reproduction of ancient Shigaraki with a modern aesthetic.

Signature:
The "Rakusai" ceramic seal is found on the bottom of the piece.
The "Rakusai" signature and seal in vermilion ink are stamped on the front and back of the box, certifying its authenticity.
