Originals. Rare French 19th-century military set.
Front plate of a polished steel cuirass, accompanied by a cuirassier regiment uniform, heavy cavalry. Inside the case there are numerous alphabetical and numerical marks, as well as an inscription at the bottom, though it is difficult to read. Cleaning is required.
Dimensions: height 44 cm, width 39 cm. Excellent, hardened weapon-grade steel, which has resisted a musket shot. Weight of this cuirass part: 5 kg.
Dark blue jacket with red facings, embroidered collar marked “31”, scarlet epaulettes. All buttons of the jacket bear the maker’s marks on the reverse.
Jacket size: 46–48. Shows small holes, tears in the fabric, and traces of old repairs. Includes military decorations, among them the Legion of Honour and the 1870 Medal of Bravery.
Period: circa 1870–1880, Third Republic.
Authentic collector’s piece, ideal for museum, exhibition, reenactment, or private collection. Very well preserved.
