FORM AND CONSTRUCTION
This example has a broad, slightly flared body rising from a round base. Particularly noteworthy are the two triangular lateral projections extending from the lower register, each pierced with a hole. Whether intended for fixing, stabilising or handling, these elements give the mortar a highly distinctive silhouette and reinforce its formal interest.

SURFACE AND MARKS
The wood has developed a rich old patina, especially attractive inside the bowl and along the upper rim, where long use has softened the surface. On one side, incised marks forming an “H” and an “X”-like motif add a further layer of visual interest and suggest ownership, use marks or simple notation.
