Grande attische Kylix mit dionysischer Szene (Satyr und Mänade) – 35,5 cm – handbemalt

Große dekorative Kylix in Anlehnung an die attische Vasenmalerei der klassischen griechischen Antike.

Das Innenbild (Tondo) zeigt eine typische dionysische Szene mit einem Satyr und einer weiblichen Figur (Mänade/Nymphe). Solche Darstellungen gehören zu den bekanntesten Motiven der klassischen Zeit und stehen im Zusammenhang mit dem Gefolge des Dionysos, dem Gott des Weines und der Ekstase.

Die Komposition orientiert sich an klassischen Vorbildern attischer Trinkschalen des 5. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. Vergleichbare Stücke befinden sich heute in verschiedenen musealen Sammlungen, unter anderem in Würzburg.

Die Schale wurde keramisch gefertigt und anschließend von Hand bemalt. Im Gegensatz zu antiken Originalen erfolgte die Ausführung nicht in der traditionellen rotfigurigen Brenntechnik, sondern als künstlerische Interpretation eines antiken Vorbilds.

Mit einem Durchmesser von 35,5 cm handelt es sich um ein besonders großes und wirkungsvolles Stück.

Large Attic kylix with Dionysian scene (satyr and maenad) – 35.5 cm – hand-painted

Large decorative kylix inspired by Attic vase painting of classical Greek antiquity.

The interior scene (tondo) depicts a typical Dionysian composition featuring a satyr and a female figure (maenad/nymph). Such imagery is characteristic of the classical period and relates to the entourage of Dionysus, the god of wine and ecstasy.

The composition is inspired by classical Attic drinking cups from the 5th century BC. Comparable examples can be found in various museum collections, including Würzburg.

The vessel is made of ceramic and hand-painted. Unlike ancient originals, it was not produced using the traditional red-figure firing technique, but represents an artistic interpretation of an ancient model.
