卖家的描述
An exceptionally rare piece of "Veteran" motoring history. This Metroscope was the cutting-edge GPS of its day, designed for the first generation of British motorists following the 1903 Motor Car Act. Calibrated for "English Miles" with a 30 mph outer speed dial and a 600-unit inner distance dial, it represents the birth of automotive instrumentation.
Technical Specifications:
Mechanism: Swiss-made precision movement, Patent #7471 (marked with Maltese Cross).
Patent: French "Brevete S.G.D.G" registration.
Calibration: Specifically for the UK market ("English Miles").
Serial Number: 1066.
Collector's Note:
In 1904, the legal speed limit was 20 mph. This instrument was a vital tool for the early motorist to avoid the "speed traps" of the day. A high-status accessory for a vehicle such as a De Dion-Bouton or an early Napier.
Condition:
The dial face is crisp and clean, the second of the two hands is moved into position using the knob on the reverse, the hand for the small inner dial is missing. the case is in good, solid original condition and uncleaned. The Metroscope has not been tested.
