Antique tobacco cabinet made of fir with walnut veneer, probably dating from the late Victorian period or the early 20th century. Size: 20 cm x 24 cm x 12 cm; weight about 1.060 kg.
In origin these small cabinets were designed to preserve a gentleman's pipe collections or smoking accessories.
It features a contemporaneous front glass door, well preserved (some scratches due to use, but you can still discern the glass's era bubbles); the hinges are brass, as is the knob, while the interior is arranged with a shelf and lined (perhaps added in a later period) with a thick paper of velvet-like texture. A decidedly peculiar object and collectible for its small size and excellent state of preservation. Some signs of insect activity but no longer present.
