卖家的描述
Fine Nezumi-Shino Chawan (Tea Bowl) by Kato Shusen – Mino Ware with Tomobako
Description:
This is an authentic Nezumi-Shino (Mouse-Grey Shino) tea bowl, handcrafted by the acclaimed Mino ware artist Kato Shusen (Shusen-toen Kiln) from Toki City, Gifu.
Nezumi-Shino is a traditional Japanese pottery technique where a layer of iron oxide is applied to the clay before the thick feldspar (Shino) glaze is added. The design is then scratched through the iron layer, creating the striking contrast of grey, white, and earthy tones.
This particular piece is exceptional for its vibrant "hi-e" (fire marks)—rich, reddish-orange hues that appear where the glaze meets the unglazed clay. The bold, abstract brushwork and the sturdy form make it a powerful example of modern Shino ware.
Signature & Provenance:
The base (Kodai) features the artist’s hand-incised signature "Hi" (ひ), the hallmark of Kato Shusen. The bowl comes with its original wooden box (Tomobako), signed and sealed by the artist, ensuring its authenticity and collector's value.
Condition:
Excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. (Please refer to the photos for details.)
Dimensions:
Height: 7.8 cm
Width (Diameter): 12.4 cm
