Ancient Roman Silver Denarius, Mounted as Pendant – Severan Period (Possibly
Attributed to Septimius Severus) c. AD 193–211

An authentic ancient Roman silver coin, identified as a denarius, dating to the Severan
period, circa AD 193–211, and possibly attributed to the reign of Emperor Septimius
Severus, later adapted into a wearable pendant.

The obverse depicts a laureate imperial bust, facing right, executed in the characteristic
Severan portrait style, with more realistic and forceful facial features compared to earlier
Antonine issues. Parts of the surrounding imperial inscription remain visible, supporting
a late 2nd–early 3rd century date.

The reverse features a standing martial figure, likely Mars or a related military
personification, holding attributes associated with warfare and imperial
strength—imagery frequently employed during the Severan dynasty.
The coin retains an aged silver surface with natural toning and light encrustation
consistent with long circulation and burial. It has been respectfully mounted with a
silver-toned suspension loop and is presented on a faux leather necklace, allowing for
wearable display while preserving the integrity of the ancient coin.
