A striking antique crystal vase by Val Saint Lambert, crafted in a refined two-tone technique with a rich magenta overlay — one of the rarest and most beautiful colours produced by the manufactory. Depending on the light, the tone reveals deep, vibrant nuances, enhancing the visual depth of the piece.

The vivid overlay contrasts elegantly with the clear crystal base, amplifying the brilliance of the finely cut decoration.

Entirely handmade and hand-cut, the vase features the well-known Val Saint Lambert pattern 3247/17, a design documented in the 1908 catalogue, confirming its authenticity and historical significance within the production of the manufactory.

The design was developed by Hubert Fouarge under the artistic direction of Léon Ledru, who was overseeing the factory at the time. This collaboration reflects the transition from late 19th-century decorative styles toward the emerging aesthetics of the early 20th century.

The cut is precise and expressive, with sharp geometric motifs and star elements that catch and reflect light from every angle. The scalloped rim adds an elegant Art Nouveau touch, typical of the period.

A testament to their artistry is the “Vase of the Nine Provinces,” a monumental piece over 2 meters tall and weighing 200 kilograms, crafted for the 1894 World Exhibition in Antwerp.

Despite these obstacles, Val Saint Lambert’s resilience ensured the preservation of its artisanal heritage.
