卖家的描述
A fine collection of pottery items from the Djenné-Djenno culture and of the early-Dogon period of Mali. Found in the region of Djenné, when the river Niger causes floodings and unearths old settlements. This culture florished in the 14th-16th Cent. in Central-Mali, and in the Pays Dogon, where pottery can be found in ancient caves. There are 5 different items presented here:
The largest jar, heavy in weight, comes from the Dogon-country and can possibly be from Tellem origin. Decorated with 9 strips of pottery and a rim around the base of the spout. Some chipping has ocurred on the rim at the top. Very rare item. Height; 21 cm with a wide body.
The other jar comes from Djenné; baked with reddish clay and is decorated with light clay stripes; a rare to find design.
Height; 18 cm. The diabolo-shaped pottery item could be a small jar-support, as a stabiliser. Red engobe covering.
Height.; 6,5 cm. Finally there are two small flat pottery plaquettes, decorated with geometric patterns. Pierced at the corners. Usage is not quite clear. Dim.; 8,5 and 9,5 cm long.
All items were collected in situ in the late 1990`s.
Possibly older than 1900, but without test, it stays our opinion.
