This version was created by the association of the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France Sommelier category. The MOF title is earned by winning the competition organised every four years under the patronage of the Ministry of Labour and the President of the French Republic. The competition was created with the aim of highlighting the craft trades. Some 200 different crafts, including the figure of the sommelier, are part of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition. It takes years of study and work experience to win the title. Some of France's best sommeliers had to repeat their exams up to four times before they could join the MOF club. And it is a very important title, comparable to an honour that can turn any craftsman's career around.
