■ Features of the Work
Refined Sculptural Beauty:
It features an elegant posture with a slightly tilted head and a streamlined body that widens towards the bottom. It is a design that Suiki excels at, conveying both tranquility and a sense of life.

Deep Indigo Coloring and Plum Blossom Design:
The body is colored in a deep indigo reminiscent of the night sky or the deep sea, and beautifully scattered with white, pink, and golden plum blossoms. Some parts are carved, giving it a three-dimensional finish.

■ About the Artist, Sato Suiki (1920-2007)
Born in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. Known as a pioneer of modern kokeshi dolls (creative kokeshi dolls), he received the Prime Minister's Award twice (1959, 1966), and his skill and artistry are highly regarded both domestically and internationally.
