The "Black Sabbath" album by Black Sabbath, released on February 13, 1970, is widely regarded as the birth of heavy metal music. This self-titled debut album marked a significant departure from the rock and blues influences of the 1960s, introducing a darker, heavier sound that would come to define the metal genre.

The "Black Sabbath" album remains a seminal work, not only for Black Sabbath but for the entire genre of heavy metal, representing a bold and innovative departure from the musical norms of its time.

This is the Japan initial first release.
Comes with an obi strip with ¥1,950 printed on it as well as on the back of the jacket.
This record company, Nippon Phonogram Co. Ltd., Tokyo, credits Philips as the label for it features the generic blue label on the vinyl & reads SFX-7203 (VO-6) Made in Japan.

Like the original UK version this also comes in a gatefold sleeve, however instead of the credits being printed over a black background with logo & cross, the Japanese release features a white background with the track list in English with Japanese titles and durations, liner notes in Japanese by Yutaka Sakurai along with the English lyrics(obviously transcribed by ear due to many mistakes)

The record itself is black translucent with looking with a strong light.
- Track B1 is a Crow cover and track B3 is an The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation cover - Evil Woman is spelled as - Evi Woman -

-initial first releases have ¥ 1,950 still printed on the back but a ¥ 2,000 price sticker over the original ￥1,950 on the obi
- later issues have a back cover with a ¥ 2,000 sticker over the original ¥1,950 but an obi with ¥ 2,000 printed on it (not sticker)
- Subsequent releases(1971 until about 1974) have ¥ 2,000 actually printed on the back cover and ¥ 2,000 printed on the obi (no sticker)
