■ Description

This lot consists of a ceramic incense container (kōgō) with a gilt dragon design and a bronze incense burner (kōro) by Zuihō, accompanied by its original signed wooden box.

The kōgō features a sculptural dragon motif, highlighted with gold decoration. Its expressive form and distinctive shape give it strong decorative appeal, making it suitable not only for use but also as a display object.

In the Japanese tea ceremony, a kōgō is used to hold incense materials such as incense wood or kneaded incense. These small lidded containers serve both a practical function and an aesthetic role, often reflecting seasonal or artistic themes. Pieces with sculptural designs like this one are also appreciated as decorative objects or collectibles.

The incense burner is made of bronze and signed by Zuihō. The body is decorated with relief depictions of figures and motifs, giving it a sense of depth and craftsmanship. The stable three-legged form and the ornamental finial on the lid are also notable features.

Although made from different materials (ceramic and bronze), the two pieces form a harmonious set with a refined Japanese aesthetic. They can be enjoyed both as functional incense tools and as decorative or collectible items.
