卖家的描述

项/品描述
A breathtaking spherical single-stem flower vase (hanaire) in Mashiko ware, by Kawahara Takeo (河原健雄) .
This piece is pure, concentrated ceramics.
Its form — a near-perfect sphere tapering to the finest of necks — carries the quiet authority of a work made by someone who has spent decades listening to clay.
Every millimetre of the surface is alive with yohen kiln-transformation glaze: deep indigo and midnight black pool at the centre, dissolving outward into a constellation of silver-blue speckles against a matte iron-grey ground.
The effect shifts dramatically with the light — by day a muted, mineral depth; by candlelight, something almost galactic.
The foot and lower body carry a rougher, more earthen texture where the glaze thins, revealing the raw character of the Mashiko clay beneath.
This interplay of matt and gloss, of the controlled and the accidental, is the essential drama of yohen ceramics — and here it is resolved with exceptional finesse.
A single stem is all this vase asks.
As shown in the lifestyle photograph, even a bare branch of forsythia becomes a composition.
The vase speaks equally well in a contemporary European interior as in a traditional Japanese setting — its language is elemental and universal.
Comes with the artist's original wooden storage box (tomobako), inscribed "花生 建雄陶房" with red seal.
Ceramic résumé included.
Unused and in mint condition.

Size
Height: 12 cm
Outer diameter: 11.5 cm

Weight
355 g

Condition
Mint / unused condition.
No chips, scratches, or blemishes of any kind.
Glaze surface is pristine throughout.

Artist Profile
Kawahara Takeo (河原健雄, born 1951) is a Mashiko-based studio potter with a distinguished exhibition record spanning over two decades.
Born in Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture, he grew up in Funabashi and trained at a ceramics guidance centre and kiln before establishing his own kiln in 1974 at Shinfukuji, Mashiko.
He has been selected for the prestigious Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition multiple times — in 1985, 1986, 1990, and 1992 — one of the most competitive and respected platforms for craft art in Japan.
He was also selected for the Asahi Ceramics Exhibition (Asahi Tōgei-ten) in 1983 and 1984, and for the Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition (Dentō Kōgei Shinsaku-ten) in 1977.
His large-scale ceramic wall works (tōheki) have been commissioned for permanent installation by Mitsubishi corporation and in public buildings in Chiba Prefecture, reflecting the breadth and ambition of his practice beyond studio pottery.
In 1993, he established Kawahara Takeo Design Tobo, his dedicated studio in Mashiko.
