Description:
This vase by Ōue Noboru（大上 昇） has a strong, traditional Tamba-style presence. It features a rounded lower body with a tall, narrow neck and a distinctive side handle-like projection near the upper section, giving the piece a form reminiscent of a classical tokkuri or flower vessel.
The surface is finished in a deep reddish-brown tone with subtle variations from firing. Fine horizontal throwing marks can be seen across the body and neck, adding texture and emphasizing the handmade character of the work. The overall impression is quiet, heavy, and earthy, reflecting the strength of Tamba Tachikui ware（丹波立杭焼).

About the artist:
Ōue Noboru 大上 昇 was the first kiln master of Shōyō-gama（昇陽窯） in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyōgo Prefecture. He is known for traditional works such as ebi tokkuri, tea bowls, and flower vessels, often using classic Tamba techniques. His works are appreciated for their solid forms, restrained surfaces, and powerful rustic character. His tradition is now carried on by the second and third generations of the family kiln.
