The classic dress watch style is one that was perfected by IWC in the 1950s and 1960s. This Reference 803A incorporates IWC’s excellent calibre 8541 automatic movement which is the same calibre used in the second generation of the famous IWC Ingenieur, as well as the Ingenieur SL. The date ring of the cal. 8541 was enlarged from the preceding cal. 8531, thereby making the numerals easier to read.

The silvered satin finished dial retains a great lustre and has a couple of small and minor scratches. Cased in steel, the lugs have good shaping and the original crown with its fish logo is slightly recessed into the case which creates a more streamlined appearance. There are scuffs and scratches to the case throughout.
