Artist: Katsuaki Toyoda (1897-1972)
He studied under Kamezo Shimizu at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts). He was active on the stage of the Imperial Exhibition and the Nitten Exhibition, and after the war, he established an unshakeable position as a master metalworker. He is known for his style that pursues a modern compositional beauty while based on traditional casting techniques.

Design and Material
Made of cast bronze with a solid, substantial feel, the deep reddish-brown color gives it a dignified quality characteristic of Toyoda's work. The gently flared form towards the top and the horizontal lines applied in key places simultaneously create a sense of the robustness of metal and a modern lightness.
