卖家的描述
Slab with eleven floating (pelagic) crinoids Saccocoma tenella (Goldfuss, 1831) from famous Solnhofen locality.
Matrix is cutted.
Unlike most crinoids, which remain attached to the seabed, Saccocoma was a delicate, free-swimming organism adapted for life in the open water above the lagoon environments that formed the Solnhofen deposits. Its body consisted of a small central cup surrounded by long, slender five doubly separated arms covered in fine branching structures used for filter-feeding. These arms helped Saccocoma capture tiny plankton and organic particles drifting through the water.
Age: Upper Jurassic, Tithonian, Solnhofen Limestone
Locality: Germany, Solnhofen
Matrix size: 193 x 144 x 13 mm
The largest crinoid size: 20x20 mm
Weight: 640 g
