Item Description:
This is an exquisite creative kokeshi doll by the highly acclaimed artist Masae Fujikawa. The doll is characterized by its vibrant emerald-green kimono, adorned with delicately carved and painted mountain flowers. The artist utilizes masterfully executed pyrography (burnt-wood etching) and relief carving to give the floral patterns a stunning three-dimensional texture. The head is topped with a red-patterned bun, adding a traditional yet playful touch to its elegant silhouette. A genuine artist sticker is attached to the bottom. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of age.

Masae Fujikawa (b. 1942)
Born in Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture, Masae Fujikawa is one of Japan's most celebrated kokeshi artisans. His exceptional skill has earned him the most prestigious accolades in the field, including the Prime Minister's Award twice (1996 and 2002). He has also received the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award and many other government honors. In 1991, he established his own studio, "Fujikawa Kogei." His works are highly sought after by international collectors for their sophisticated color palettes and masterful wood-carving techniques.
