A bright and graphic Dutch postmodern table lamp by Anvia, attributed to J.J.M. Hoogervorst, one of the designers associated with the Dutch lighting company. The lamp dates from around 1980 and is marked ANVIA. The design has the cheerful clarity of the Memphis period without becoming fussy: a wide red conical shade, a black cylindrical stem and a flat circular base in bright yellow lacquered metal. The colours are bold, almost toy-like, but the form itself is beautifully simple. Three basic shapes, cone, cylinder and circle, are stacked into a very decorative little piece of Dutch postmodern lighting. The contrast between the red, yellow and black gives the lamp a strong visual rhythm. It works especially well as a styling piece on a desk, side table or a low cabinet, where it brings colour, geometry to the room. The lamp is in very good condition, with only minor signs of age and use.
