卖家的描述
On offer is a well-crafted, oval-shaped, MCM, solid teak serving tray or cutting board, It was designed by the illustrious Jens H Quistgaard for Digsmed (Denmark) in the early 1960s. The piece is beautifully constructed from end-grain teak in a parquet style; and features a raised, sculptural centre, which can serve as a decoration when using it as a tray, or to hold meat in place while carving. It is made of Grade A teak wood: a premium, tropical hardwood prized for its exceptional durability, dense grain, high natural oil content and its resistance to water. It has a warm reddish-brown colour, rich wood grain, and smooth texture; there are two indentations/notches on the underside for hanging purposes. The piece is a fine example of Scandinavian design excellence, with its functional, organic, and minimalist aesthetic.
DIMENSIONS: The tray/carving board measures 44 cm x 32.5 cm x 4.5 cm.
CONDITION: The piece is in excellent condition, with a silky, warm, aged patina.
JENS HARALD QUISTGAARD was a Danish sculptor and designer, known principally for his prolific work at Dansk Designs, where he was chief designer for nearly three decades. Quistgaard’s creations became synonymous with Scandinavian Modern. He apprenticed under Georg Jensen and developed from being a draughtsman and relief-maker to an internationally-renowned sculptural industrial designer. Quistgaard’s designs are exhibited at major galleries/museums and in homes around the world.
