卖家的描述
MiLo – “Shield”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Shield is built through layered gestures, scratches, sweeping brush movements, and partially erased marks that move across a deep black surface. Off-white, grey, and muted ochre tones emerge and dissolve within the composition, creating a sense of tension, resistance, and accumulated impact.
The painting balances spontaneity and structure. Certain forms briefly appear before disappearing again into the layered surface, allowing the work to shift between abstraction and suggestion. The visible traces of repainting, dragging, and removal reveal a process shaped equally by instinct and control.
The painting can be hung in any orientation, allowing changes in rhythm and visual balance depending on its presentation.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
About the artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based artist with a background in photography and art studies. Over the years he has sold more than 800 original works, now residing in private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. His practice spans from early Pollock-inspired action paintings to precise geometric compositions, and to the layered, scratched surfaces he often explores today. In his current work, MiLo investigates the tension between construction and erosion, layering and scratching the painted surface until traces emerge. These may recall urban landscapes, geological strata, or cosmic maps — yet the imagery is never fixed. Each canvas evolves through process and chance, allowing multiple interpretations to surface beyond any single theme. Each work forms part of an ongoing exploration of abstraction, memory, and transformation, making MiLo one of the most prolific and recognizable contemporary artists on Catawiki.
