Authentic old Madeira from the respected producer H.M. Borges, founded in 1877 - one of the oldest and most traditional Madeira wine houses.

This is a genuine early Portuguese bottling (pre-1980), clearly identifiable by the fully Portuguese main label and the original J.N.V. authenticity seal on the neck. It predates the more common modern English-label versions currently offered around €490. Earlier Portuguese bottlings like this one typically retain a bit more direct barrel character from the original Solera casks.

Solera 1915
Established in 1915 as a finite (closed) Solera system — typical for classic Madeira. Only small portions were drawn off over the decades, preserving a high proportion of the original 1915 wine.

Sercial is the driest and most aristocratic of the classic Madeira grapes. Long oxidative ageing has produced a complex, lively wine with notes of walnut, dried fruit, caramel, tea and saline minerality, balanced by vibrant acidity.

Like all classic Madeira wines, this Sercial no longer develops further in the bottle. Thanks to its high fortification and natural acidity it is virtually indestructible and will remain perfectly drinkable for many more decades — or even centuries.
