Shinto balde in Tachi style koshirae. Perfect for study, collection or display

Era of blade: First half of the Edo period (c. 1690)
Signature: 河内守國助 (Kawachi No Kami Kunisuke)

Shinogi-zukuri blade, lori-mune with hamon and hada visible, has some small scratches, dents and signs of rust.
Please carefully examine the photos to assess its condition.

The signature indicates that the sword it was manufactured to Kawachi no Kami Kunisuke, a renowned swordsmith of the Osaka school of the Edo period (17th century), famous for the style of blade decoration called Kobushigata Choji.

The Tachi Koshirae with Aoi-mon (Tokugawa Kamon) is contemporary with the blade, this one also shows some missing lacquer and scratches but is still in good condition and is perfect for display.
Saya in brown lacquer streaked with fragments of mother-of-pearl and enriched with red lacquer applied with a "dripping" technique.
The term Tachi (太刀) refers primarily to an ancient type of Japanese sword, characterized by a long, sharply curved blade (usually over 60–90 cm), used by samurai, primarily on horseback, suspended from the belt with the edge facing down. A predecessor of the katana, the tachi was designed for cavalry, evolving during the Kamakura period to penetrate armor.
So this is a very rare type of sword highly recommended for anyone who wants to enrich their collection.
