An exceptional and commanding example of Chinese export art, this grand-scale Famille Rose (Canton / Rose Mandarin) porcelain baluster vase dates to the late Qing Dynasty (c. 1860–1890).

Standing as a true statement piece, its substantial size and masterful execution make it a highly desirable acquisition for discerning collectors of Asian antiquities.

Decorated in the traditional Cantonese style, the vase features an intricate tapestry of brilliant polychrome enamels, rich gilding, and beautifully modeled high-relief elements that gracefully wrap around its monumental form.

The body of the vase is divided into large, alternating narrative medallions (cartouches) bordered by a dense ground of scrolling floral vines, butterflies, and traditional symbols of good fortune.

The Courtly Panels: The main faces display highly detailed courtyard and palace interior scenes (often termed "Mandarin" scenes). Multiple figures dressed in vivid, traditional robes are depicted in various social interactions, offering a window into classical Chinese courtly life.

The Nature Panels: Alternating with the figural scenes are lush "birds and flowers" panels. These showcase exotic pheasants perched amidst blooming peonies, butterflies, and ripening fruit (traditional symbols of longevity and abundance).

Applied Gilt Sculptures: The neck features two large, beautifully molded Shi Shi (Guardian Lion / Foo Dog) handles facing outward in full gilt. Encircling the shoulders are four high-relief Chilong (clambering dragons) sculpted with wonderful detail, showing delicate remnants of their original gold leaf.

Age Verification: The base of the vase is entirely unmarked and features a beautiful, clean white porcelain glaze with an authentically oxidized unglazed foot rim. The lack of stamps like "China" or "Made in China" confirms its pre-1891 manufacture, dating it firmly to the mid-to-late 19th century.Condition:

Offered in very good, highly honest antique condition. As is expected with a genuine piece of this scale and age, there is some light, attractive wear to the gilding on the handles and dragons. A close inspection of the upper rim reveals a few minor, historic flea bites/nibbles to the outer glaze edge, but the body remains structurally sound, free of major cracks, star fractures, or modern restorations.
