This set comprises a men's kimono and matching haori (overcoat) crafted in deep slate-blue tsumugi silk, woven with a subtle kasuri-style geometric micro-pattern in pale blue against the dark ground. The understated exterior reflects the traditional Japanese aesthetic of "iki" — quiet sophistication concealing inner luxury.
The true treasure lies within: the haori is lined with a magnificent hand-painted habutae silk hagoromo (羽裏) depicting classical sansui (mountain-and-water) landscape vignettes in muted ink tones, accompanied by calligraphic poetry and red artist seals. Such painted linings, traditionally hidden against the wearer's body, were a form of refined self-expression for men of culture during the Showa era — a private gallery worn close to the heart.
